The project seeks to retain a historic estate house while bringing the fabric of the building up to modern environmental standards. An extension to the property will provide additional internal space for family living sought by the owner

The existing cottage marks the entrance to the main estate residence and is set within a mature landscape boundary.

The design seeks to add a significant extension to the side of the existing house whilst retaining the existing property’s prominence on the site. The new extension is set back and finished in a contrasting materiality to create distinction between old and new. The new block presents a clear arrival and entrance to the property with utility and office facilities on the ground floor and additional bedroom accommodation at first.

The borders to the site are reworked to provide, privacy to the south facing elevation, direct drive access and also open up views to the sun rise in the east.
